My Advice.... and My List...

I am sure that you have found yourself asking the same questions.... is this real? why do I have to pay? what's the catch? how hard is it?

Most "work from home" websites also talk about "get rich quick" methods and try to sell you with loads of software, reading materials, "secrets", equipment, etc.

Be very careful about who and what you are giving your money to. I have been searching for genuine working at home job opportunities for months, maybe even a year. My situation isn't uncommon; mother of three girls, only one is school age, I don't really have desire to do daycare, or I am not able to, limitted with work history, limitted with training, and most importantly, do not have extra money to spend on these wasteful websites.

I decided to do my own research, kept a log of everything, and then decided to share it. These companies did not endorse me to use their names. I am a real mom wanting to share my findings with other people who are in search of working at home.




1-800 CONTACTS
Call Center. Hires customer service reps located within 30 miles of Draper, UT


1-800-FLOWERS
Call Center. Hires on a temporary basis for seasonal employment. Occasionally hires permanent (particularly bilingual), call center agents. Must live in FL, NM, NY, OH, OK, TX or VA.



1-800-Translate
Translation. Hires freelance translators and on-site interpreters. College degree required. Email resume for consideration.


About.com
About.com contracts experts in many fields to write online content. Hires both guides and contributing writers for its independent contractor work at home jobs.


Accolade Support Call Center Services
IT, Call Center Hires full- or part-time technical support agents for work at home jobs of desktop troubleshooting and software support. Pay is $10-$12 per hour.


AccuTran Global
Transcription. Transcribe conference calls, meetings and interviews from the financial sector. Company hires transcribers as independent contractors on a part-time basis for its work at home jobs. 


Advanis
Mystery shopping, Call Center. Work at home jobs at this Canadian market research company include virtual call center agents and mystery shoppers.


Alpine Access
Call Center. Employees in customer service work at home jobs are paid $9/hr. Applicants pay $45 for a background check.


American Express
Travel, Corporate. American Express allows some of its corporate jobs to be telecommuted, but also hires "virtual" travel agents


Apple at Home
Call Center. Work at home call center program, part of the company's AppleCare College Program, is aimed at college students. Students can work from home as "advisors." However, Apple at Home has openings for non-students in technical support jobs. Search "apple at home" (use the quotation marks).

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
Nursing, Insurance. Once trained, company allows some nurse case manager positions to become work at home jobs. Residency in Tennessee required.


BSG - Third Party Verification
Call Center. Agents take inbound calls for third party verification for utility, cable, and financial services clients. Work at home jobs' pay is $8.50/hour for English-only agents and $9/hour for bi-lingual agents.

Call Center. Internet cruise seller hires home-based call center agents for sales positions. Bilingual in Spanish required for some positions.

Call Center. Company specializes in using home-based telephone agents to call newspaper subscribers seeking renewals. Agents are hired as employees and paid $8 per hour including training.

IT, Corporate. Computer company Dell offers many work at home jobs. Use "remote" in the keyword search.


Demand Studios
Writing
Demand Studios accepts applicants with writing, editing and filmmaking skills. They are assigned to produce made-for-the-Internet content that appear on sites like eHow.com, LIVESTRONG.COM and dozens more sites. Writers are paid both on a flat fee and revenue sharing basis.


DionData Solutions
Data Entry
Hires typists with a minimum of 60 wpm and basic computer skills for data entry.


eJury.com
Mock Jury. Sign up to evaluate a lawyer's case as a juror would and get paid $5 - $10 per case.


Examiner.com
Writing. The Examiner.com hires writers with insights and knowledge to share about local events and communities in topics ranging from sports and parenting to food and green living. Pay is based on the size of your audience.



Extended Presence
Call Center. Company provides business-to-business phone sales to clients. Agents do cold calling and appointment setting and are paid an hourly base plus incentives.


Fonemed
Telephone Triage, Nursing. Company hires registered nurses for work from home jobs that provide telephone triage and health advice to callers from across North America. Also hires customer service reps who need a minimum of a high school dipoma.


Hilton Hotels
Call Center. Hotel chain's Hilton@Home program hires motivated, work-from-home sales agents for customer care and reservations. New hires receive in-depth training and support. Bilingual jobs in Spanish or Portuguese earn $1 per hour more.

Writing. Bills itself as the "leading online publishing ecosystem." Writers sign up and publish their work.


Humana
Nursing, Insurance. Choose "work at home" as the location in Humana's careers database to find work at home jobs ranging from nurse case managers, medical coders and chart auditors to licensed insurance reps and accounting consultants.


Intracorp (Cigna)
Nurse Case Managers. Intracorp, a division of insurance company Cigna, hires registered nurses for work at home opportunities.


 JetBlue
Call Center. Airline hires some customer service representatives as employees in its work at home jobs. Bilingual ability may be required for some call center jobs.

Data Entry. Hiring home-based typists throughout the United States and Canada to work as independent contractors, SpeakWrite requires a typing speed of 65 WPM.

Data Entry Company hires transcriptionists for work at home jobs. No fee, but transcriptionists must own a specific type of software.

Call Center. Approximately 45 percent of this call center company's positions are work at home jobs. Residency in MB or WI in required.
